Lake Mburo National Park harbors several species antelopes which can not be observed elsewhere in Uganda. It is the safari destination in Uganda to support a population of impala, and only one of the three protected areas countrywide where Burchell’s zebra are found. The other two being the far less accessible Kidepo National park and Pian-Upe national reserve in Congo.
Other antelopes easily seen are topi, bushbuck, common duiker, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, and Bohor reedbuck, while the lake and lush fringing vegetation support healthy populations of buffalo, warthog, bush-pig and hippopotamus. Large herds of the majestic eland keep roaming the park.

- Day 1: Transfer from Kampala City to Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla Forest
The Uganda gorilla and wildlife Safari begins with a pick up early in the morning by our experienced tour guide and drive off heading south-westwards of Uganda for approximately 8-10hrs to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is best known for its Mountain Gorillas.
Enroute stop at the Uganda Equator crossing in Kayabwe for an educational talk as well as a photographic opportunity, and another stop in Mbarara stop for lunch, after which drive onwards; a drive that will take you through Uganda’s rolling green hills through the highlands, also known as the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’ before making the final journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorillas. Check-in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
- Day 2: Go for Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This morning you will have to wake up very early to get ready for the most thrilling activity of Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi! Report at the ranger station at 8:00 am with your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear where the guides will take you to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. Gorilla tracking in Bwindi can take between a few hours and the whole day depending on the group that is being tracked.
- Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Mburo National Park for a Uganda Wildlife Safari tour
After breakfast the safari will proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes approximately 7-8 hours with scenic views on the way all through. You will have a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch before making the final descent to Lake Mburo National Park.
Upon arrival in Lake Mburo and checking in at your accommodation, you will go for an afternoon boat trip. For birders, this is one of the best places to find African Finfoot, Papyrus, Bush-Shrike. Go for an evening game drive. Retire for the evening and spend the night at your accommodation.
- Day 4: Transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Kampala City
Wake up at leisure, have breakfast, have a guided nature walk and then proceed to Kampala which is approximately 3 to 4hrs drive. This drive will take you across the Equator where you will stop for photography as well as an informative talk, a stop at the Royal Drum makers is so rewarding, arriving in Kampala in the evening.
